Humanity has cultivated grapes since ancient times. However, the extraction of oil from grape seeds began relatively recently. This was due not only to the lack of oil extraction technologies but also to the fact that the benefits of this product had not been studied.

Some sources report that grapeseed oil was first used in Ancient Egypt and Greece. At that time, it was a byproduct of wine production. The oil was used as a wound-healing agent, as well as an antibacterial and vasodilator.

This ingredient began to be used in perfumery during the Middle Ages. The court perfumer to the Duke of Burgundy, Josse de Mal, created a hair elixir based on grapeseed oil for Anne of Joinville, his beloved. The resulting product proved to be extremely effective and gained widespread use.

Today, grapeseed oil continues to be actively used in the food and cosmetology industries. This ingredient is extracted in countries with large vineyards. Old methods of obtaining the oil are no longer used. Instead, specialists employ hot extraction and cold pressing.

The first method increases the amount of oil extracted but reduces the number of beneficial substances in the final product. Cold pressing is a more costly process, but it results in a much higher quantity of beneficial substances. On average, to obtain one liter of oil, 500 kg of grapes must be processed.

Grapeseed oil is extremely rich in beneficial substances. It contains vitamins E, A, PP, B, B1, B2, B3, B6, B9, B12, C, protein, macro- and microelements, as well as a huge amount of active compounds and antioxidants. Among the latter is resveratrol, which makes the skin elastic and stimulates collagen production.

Thanks to its nourishing properties, this oil is actively used in cosmetology. Grapeseed oil is often used as a means for skin regeneration, combating acne, and improving skin condition.

The oil is actively used in skin lotions and moisturizing creams. Also, due to the enormous amount of vitamins and rapid absorption, grapeseed oil has become an effective and popular ingredient in natural shampoos. It helps to strengthen hair structure, improve its overall condition, and minimize hair loss. Thanks to the nourishing properties of this ingredient, it is also used in nourishing masks for the face and body.
